This time round, Raiders had achieved 100% passed - with 2 colour belt trainees obtained double promotion, 14 new Poom belts, one Poom-2, two Poom-3 and two more Senior Black Dan-1.

Herewith provide the information on Grading Break week after the Grading day on(15th Jan) for all classes. Kindly refer to the information shown below:

Details on Grading Break dates:
SBW zone "K" RC: grading break on 18th Jan 2012, follow with CNY break, will resume on 8th Feb 2012.
Katong CC: grading break on 19th Jan 2012, follow with CNY break, will resume on 9th Feb 2012.
Garden @ bishan: grading break on 20th Jan 2012, will resume on 27th Jan 2012 (Theory Lesson).

Jelutung CC: grading break on 21st Jan 2012, follow with CNY break, will resume on 11th Feb 2012.
Rivervale CC: grading break on 22nd Jan 2012, follow with CNY break, will resume on 12th Feb 2012.

After the Grading Break week, it will follow with our usual Chinese New Year Break for two weeks starting from 23rd Jan till 5th Feb 2012. Therefore Classes will resume from 8th Feb 2012 onward.

Extra Trainings during CNY break for NTU Open Tournament Players

Mdm has decided to continue training after the grading break for NTU Open tournament players. All players are expected to commit to the trainings. The extra lessons will be on 25th Jan and 1st Feb from 8pm to 9.30pm at Wed class training ground. Non NTU Open tournament players, whose names are identified by Mdm are also required to attend. Trainees who wish to attend the extra lessons and are not nominated by Mdm earlier, pls check with Mdm for approval.

Mdm requires full attendance from all players. Players who are not able to commit to the extra trainings, pls inform Mdm and seek permission for excuse. Below are the compulsory players:-

Singapore Youth Olympic Festival (SYOF) Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships

The Singapore Youth Olympic Festival (SYOF) Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships will be held on 13 & 14 August 2011 (Saturday and Sunday) at Singapore Expo Hall 4.

Raiders had sent 3 young Warriors for this Championship, namely: Kenneth Yeo, Lim Youjie & BenRoy.

On Saturday 13th Aug:

Kenneth Yeo: Obtained Gold Medals with no other opponent

Lim YouJie: His first match is Bout 11 (semi-Final), estimate his match start after 1pm.

On Sunday 14th Aug:

Benroy Sajeev Choy: His first match is Bout 18 (Semi-Final), start in afternoon.

If you are going down to EXPO to give your support to your teammates, you are most welcome and admission is free.

FYI, Taekwondo is not the only Sport in the same Hall, there are other sports championship - like table tennis, badminton, football and basketball.

Due to some technical issue with the Malacca tournament, We are advised not to participate. Instead we had converted this trip to a relax Holiday trip and Oversea training exchange within our three Singapore TKD clubs -- Zen, Team Spectrum and Raiders TKD.

"Interview Component

All affiliate leaders and coaches are requested to inform their candidates taking the 1st dan grading up to 3rd dan that they will be required to know the STF pledge. They will be tested during the interview segment. If they are unable to recite the pledge, they will not make their grading.

Candidates should also be informed that the interview questions will no longer be limited to the 15 questions published in the website. The examiners may ask other ‘character development’ related questions.

For example, the examiner may ask if the candidate has done any good deeds for the last three months. The candidate is expected to answer truthfully. If he or she has not done anything good, he or she should say so and have a good reason for that.

Candidates will fail the grading if they attempt to lie as it is against their pledge which is a promise and not an aspiration.

Changing Rooms
Please also inform your members not to change their clothes in public. Some members of the public have found the act offending. Candidates are advised to use the changing rooms available at the stadium. Anyone caught changing in public area will be taken to task."

There are several requests from our members pertaining to our Raiders Orange Polo Tee. Our stock has arrived and we would like to extend to all our members who wish to purchase the Polo Tee at $20 each. As the stock is limited in sizes, priority will be given to first come first serve basis.

Interested buyers may place your orders and sizes with Mdm.

Some of our members have also requested for their names to be embroidered. We are sending all orders for names to be embroidered by 9^th July’2011. All requests will closed on this date. Hence, if you would like to have your name sewed on the tee, please do so by informing Madam before the closing date. Parents and supporters are also welcome to purchase the tee if you would like to be part of our team. We welcome our Raiders’ Parents and supporters to join us as ONE BIG family.

Our achievements for inter primary school Taekwondo championship 2011

Raiders have sent 10 Kyorugi players representing their own primary schools for the event. We have obtained 5 GOLD medals, 1 SILVER and an OVERALL 2ND in the senior male Kyorugi trophy. We have managed to clinch 2 bronzes (3rd position) in the Poomsae event too. Those participated and did not get any medals, do not be discouraged. You are still a winner by clocking the tournament experience.

STF's Update: Grading Matters

Coaches are reminded to ensure that
- their students do not change in public,
- their female students, regardless of age, wear white round-neck t-shirts inside their dobok (sports bra instead of the t-shirt is not acceptable) and
- their students do not engage in contact sparring.

Club leaders or coaches will be called up for a discussion with the Disciplinary Committee if their students are caught changing in public.

Examiners will fail female candidates who fail to observe the uniform requirement. White round-neck t-shirt is part of the uniform for female participants regardless of age.

Any candidate who knocks out his opponent will fail his grading. As full protective gear is not worn during grading, only light contact sparring is allowed.

The co-operation of Club leaders and coaches are sought to make sure that the candidates observe all the grading rules.

To all those Raiders' young warriors who are taking part in the upcoming National Inter-School Championship, please be informed that there will be extra training on 6th Apr (Wed) 8pm (Not 13th Apr) at Blk 588B Montreal Drive (sembawang) Multi-purpose void deck.

Training will start from 8pm till 9:30pm and conducted by Polo Sir. You may come early before 8pm and do your own revision for your poomsae and warm-up exercise.

All participants of this Inter-Sch championship are strongly encouraged to come for this specially arranged training. We will go through the rules and regulation of the games via practical practice.

Poom to Dan Conversion

"Coaches should remind their active 1^st poom holders to convert their grade to 1^st dan on reaching the age of 15. Otherwise, they will be at a disadvantage as they will not be allowed to take their 2^nd dan until one year after the conversion. Furthermore, they may face difficulty when they serve their national service as the SAF only recognizes dan certification.

Coaches should also make it clear to all poom belt holders that conversion from poom to dan is automatic only if they continue training till they reach 15 years old. If they stop training after obtaining their grade, they will have to re-join the club and train for at least six months to qualify for conversion.

The six-month training requirement is for the coaches to assess the suitability of their poom belt holders for the conversion. If the coaches are not satisfied, they have the right to prescribe a longer training period for their trainees before recommending the conversion.

The conversion fee is $30 with effect from 1April 2011."

New Ruling for 3rd Poom Grading

"In response to numerous requests by club coaches, the STF Management Committee, in its meeting on 15 March 2011, has agreed to allow candidates for 2^nd to 3^rd poom to take their grading with their other club members.

They will no longer be required to take their promotion tests with the other candidates for dan grades.

The new ruling will take effect from April 2011 grading."

For Secondary School trainees, age 14yrs old to under 17yrs old, you belong to B DIVISION.
For Secondary School trainees, under 14yrs old, you belong to C DIVISION.

Please be informed, there will be no TaeKwondo lesson from 1st Feb to 17th Feb 2011 being the celebration of Chinese Lunar New Year’2011.

Details on CNY Break dates:

Jelutung CC: No Class on following dates 05/02/11 and 12/02/11 , will resume on 19^th Feb 2011

Rivervale CC: No Class on following dates 06/02/11 and 13/02/11 , will resume on 20^th Feb 2011

Katong CC: No Class on following dates 03/02/11, 10/02/11 and 17/02/11 , will resume on 24^th Feb 2011

SBW zone "K" RC: No Class for Whole of Feb 2011, will resume on 2nd Mar 2011

There is another Demonstration seminar on 9th Feb 2011 (Wed) 7pm at NTC, conducted by Mr. Kim Young Sam. This seminar is open to Black Belt only. Both Sir and Mdm will be attending this seminar. It was a beautiful Sunday morning for Our Raiders' Charity Day - Terry Fox Run 2011. With a group of 58 participants which make up of Parents and Students, they had sacrificed their sweet dream to wake up early in the morning and travel all the way to East Coast park for this meaningful event.

Hope everyone had enjoyed this great day and we'll look forward for more of this kind of activities to come.

Dear Parents and Students of Katong class, both Polo Sir and Poh Ling Mdm will not be in class this evening (30th Dec'10). This is due to the demise of Polo Sir's beloved Uncle.

The class will still continue as usual. Trainee instructors; Leng Kee Mdm and Michelle Mdm will take over the lesson for tonight. As our grading is near the corner, they will assist our trainees to go through their poomsae practice.

Upcoming STF's course - National Poomsae Referees’ Course

There is an upcoming course - National Poomsae Referees’ Course, will be held on 8th-9th Jan 2011. All Senior Black belt leaders are encourage to attend this course. Currently, only Sir and Mdm are the qualified Poomsae referees for Raiders TKD. We hope to see more leaders to join in the Poomsae referee team.

This course not only trained you to be a qualified Poomsae referee, it also help a trainer to know more in-depth on Poomsae. It allows us to have the latest changes on the Poomsae, the correct execution of the poomsae, etc.
