Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1) for Poom and Black Belts

Good news for all Poom and Black Belt, STF had setup An Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1) and will be conducted on 5th (Sat), 6th (Sun) & 9th (Wed) January 2013 at the STF National Training Centre.

Interested trainees (Poom/Black) that going for Grading on next year, you are strongly advise to attend this course to get exemption from the  self-defence  component. 

Please completed your registration form, Poom/Black belt certificate and payment ($70) to Mdm Poh Ling ASAP before 31st Dec for internal administration for submission. Else after 30th Dec shall consider late registration.

1st Phuket International Choi Young Seok Taekwondo Championship 2013

Raiders would like to form a team for both the Kyorugi and Poomsae events for exposure and experience. Poh Ling Mdm will shortlist players by this week. Interested players may also approach Mdm directly.

We strongly encourage at least one accompanying adult to follow us for this trip for players who are below 21yrs old. We need the confirmation on the number of family members who wish to follow us for this trip latest by Sun, 23 Dec 2013.

We will not entertain late entries due to the short timeframe needed for administration and registration.

Jelutung Class Cancelled for this week (24th Nov)

To All Parents and Trainees of Jelutung Class, please do take note that there will be NO training lesson for this coming Saturday (24th Nov) as CC officer had informed Mdm last week that the Hall is unavailable.

The Class will resume on 1st Dec 2012. As Grading is in mid Jan 2013, shall start to teach poomsae to prepare Grading in mid-Jan 2013.

Grading result for last Oct 2012 is out!!! 98.6% PASSED!!!

Once again, Congratulations to all our Raiders trainees who went for the recent 146th Centralized Grading sanctioned by Singapore Taekwondo Federation.

Our Team comprising of 153 members participated for this October Grading. This time round we had achieved 98.6% passes with 5 trainees obtained double promotion, and only 2 failed.

Let give our congratulation to Chua Wei Liang, Richard and Michael for achieving their 1st Dan Black Belt. Both Michael and Richard are from our Raiders' Parents Group.

Please also congrats our 4 young juniors -- Hafiz, Prathamesh, Enzo Lam and Joshua Kwauk -- All 4 of them had passed and obtained their Junior Black 1st Poom.

RAIDERS LEADERS SOFT SKILLS TRAINING CAMP 2012

Dear Parents & Trainees

RE: RAIDERS LEADERS SOFT SKILLS TRAINING CAMP 2012

Raiders Taekwondo Group will be collaborating with the Singapore Scouts Association for 02 days 01 night soft skills training camp. Our target group will be for trainees holding Red belt and above and are above 12yrs old. This camp shall prepare our future promising Raiders leaders to be independent and work as a group. It is also a great time for all our leaders and leaders-to-be to come together and work together on some sets of survival skills. Younger trainees holding lower belt level who are interested may also discussed with Madam.  

Objectives of the camp:-
1. Breakaway from family’s dependency and learn to be independent on his/her own
2. Team work among campmates 
3. Basic survival skills 
4. Moulding the younger generation for a better person etc

Pls find details of the camp and the breakdown of the cost as follows:-
Camp Date       : 17th & 18th Nov 2012 (Saturday & Sunday)

(There will be a stipulated pick up point. Trainees will have to make their way to the pick up point for bus transport)

National TKD Championship 2012

Raiders' Young Warriors in Action!!!

Today is the 1st day of the National Taekwondo Championship 2012, Our Raiders' young warriors will be in action for Today and Tomorrow (22nd and 23rd sept). Do come and give your support and cheer, and have a feel the competition atmosphere and see with your own eyes what is tournament sparring is.

If you want to see more heart-pumping and lighting fast kick, then don't miss the sparring matches for teenagers and adults, it will be on 29th & 30th sept.

The competition venue is at Yishun Sports Hall - FREE Admission.

Friendly Match at Rivervale CC class on 2nd Sept

Gentle reminder: There will be friendly match this sunday, 2nd Sept at Rivervale CC, from 7.30pm to 9pm. We hope to see all our trainees taking part in the upcoming national tournaments to be present for the friendly match as well. It will be a warm up match prior to the Championships. Trainees who are not involved in the tournament and would like to go for the friendly match, you may seek Mdm's permission.

39th National Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships

The 39th National Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships information had been posted in STF's website and will be held over 2 weekends on 22, 23, 29 & 30 September 2012 at Yishun Sports Hall.

All Raiders fighters had already been informed by Mdm and the training had started...

Training once a week is not enough to make you a ultimate champion. Regular self conditioning training is still needed -- running, swimming, push-ups, sit-up, leg raise exercise, climbing up stair, speed kicking, foot-work, well-balanced nutrition diet and mental preparation, etc.

Patrick Cohn, a sports psychologist, suggests that there are four mental and emotional characteristics common to champion athletes. 

Cohn’s characteristics are: 

• Competitiveness: “This is someone who loves the heat of battle,” Cohn says. “They’re motivated by testing their skills against the next person. Obviously, they love to win and hate to lose. You need that. People might think, ‘Well, isn’t everyone competitive?’ The answer is ‘no.’ The really competitive person digs deeper than the next guy.” 

• Confidence: “Self-confidence is probably the No. 1 mental skill that championship athletes possess,” Cohn says. ”Simply put, it is their belief in their ability to perform. They see themselves as winners. They think, act and behave in very confident ways, sometimes to the point it can turn people off.”

• Composure: “This one has a couple of connotations,” Cohn says. “The first is: Can you keep it together under pressure at crunchtime? It’s the last minute of the game, and you’re trailing by three: It’s how well you can stay under control emotionally and can perform when you need to.  ”The other component is how well you deal with mistakes. Can you stay composed and forget about them? Or do you get upset and frustrated and thrown off your game? Athletes who are composed don’t get rattled and compound one mistake into many.”

• Focus: “The idea is to give focus and attention to what’s most important — and, when you do get distracted, to refocus quickly,” Cohn says. “This is the key component to success in sports such as gymnastics and diving, but it’s important in all sports.”

Grading result for last July is out!!!

Congratulations to all our Raiders trainees who went for the recent 145th Centralized Grading sanctioned by Singapore Taekwondo Federation. We are happy to announce that we had achieved 97.9% passes with 1 white belt, Kang Kiat Meng clinching the double promotion glory. Our Team comprising of 143 members sat for the 145th Centralized Grading and they have done us proud with their remarkable result.

We would also like to special congratulates our 4 parents from the Parents Group for achieving their 1st Dan Black Belt. They are 1) Alan Lim 2) Jessie Lim 3) Tommy Choy and 4) Ho Kah Pin. To those who failed, do not despair. Higher Dan grading is not an easy task. It requires years of experience and hard work as well.

PA-STF Taekwondo Championships 2012 - Bout list & Reporting Time

Program Time schedule:
10am to 2:30pm --> Poomsae competition


2:30pm to 7pm --> Kyorugi (Sparring) competition

Referee Reporting Time:
Poomsae referee: 9:15am
Kyorugi referee: 2pm

Medal Presentation:

Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1) for Poom and Black Belts

There is a upcoming Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1) that will be conducted on 7, 8, 14 and 15 July 2012 at the STF National Training Centre. 


This is only open to poom belts and black belts and highly recommended to attend if trainees are going for their higher level promotion. Upon successful completion of this course, Certificate will be awarded and this allows you to be exempted from Unarmed Combat module for Grading.

Trainees who is interested to register for this Course, pls fill up the registration form and pass it to Mdm together with the course Fee and a photocopy of your Black Belt Cert -- before 27th June (Wed).

FYI... Our Wednesday Class's SBW RC had setup a Wellness Club - Shoulder, Back & Neck Massage.

Mr Quek is the 推拿师 that Mdm and Sir who visited him often for his massage treatment service at his main shop at Bedok. Both of us like his way of treatment and had recommended our friends and they do like it too.

He is now been invited by our SBW RC to give a trial run in June - 4 Saturday... if you have shoulder, neck or shoulder problem, you might want to give a try and call to book... :)

Attention to All Parents and Trainees of Katong CC Class, we had been informed that the renovation work is having some delay. Therefore our Taekwondo training class will be able to resume on the 1st week of July 2012 (5th July).

Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1) - Conducted by STF

To All Poom and Senior black Belt, there is an upcoming Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1). It will be conducted on 28 & 29 April 2012, 5 & 6 May 2012.  This  kind of course is normally conducted once a year. Therefore if you are planning to go for your 1st Poom/Dan to 2nd Poom/Dan grading which include Unarmed Combat, you are encourage to attend.

All interested Poom and Black belt holders, you are to submit your registration form to Baoling Mdm by this Saturday (21st April 2012) for Raiders' internal administration progress.

Require items for Submission:
[1] Completed and Signed Course Registration Form, and scan the copy in PDF format.
--> Ensure the signed by your parent if your are a poom belt.

[2] Scan copy of your 1st Poom/Dan certificate in PDF format.
--> and include your 2nd Poom/Dan certificate if you are a 2nd Poom/Dan.

[3] Settle the Registration Fee Payment of $70 before or On 21st April 2012. Contact Baoling's Mdm for mode of payment.

RAIDERS TEAM BUILDING DAY 2012

Raiders Taekwondo Group will be organizing our very first Raiders’ Team Building Day for all our members and their extended family members. It will be a session of forest adventure activities for all age group; ranging from 6 years old onwards or at least 1.1m in height. We strongly encourage all Raiders’ parents to join in the fun element. It will be a great and memorable bonding time for parents to walk through the obstacles with their children too.

Hari Haran, a 5-year old taekwondo member training at Yew Tee RC in Choa Chu Kang, is now in Intensive Care Unit because of a viral attack to his heart.  He is on life support and requires blood transfusion urgently.


On behalf of his parents, the Singapore Taekwondo Federation is appealing to all taekwondo members with O+ blood type to help him.  If you wish to donate your blood, you may do so from now to 5.30pm at

Extra Trainings during CNY break for NTU Open Tournament Players

Mdm has decided to continue training after the grading break for NTU Open tournament players. All players are expected to commit to the trainings. The extra lessons will be on 25th Jan and 1st Feb from 8pm to 9.30pm at Wed class training ground. Non NTU Open tournament players, whose names are identified by Mdm are also required to attend. Trainees who wish to attend the extra lessons and are not nominated by Mdm earlier, pls check with Mdm for approval.

Mdm requires full attendance from all players. Players who are not able to commit to the extra trainings, pls inform Mdm and seek permission for excuse. Below are the compulsory players:-

Tonight (4th Jan) Wednesday Class Training ground changed

To Wednesday Class Trainees, Tonight training ground will be at the carpark rooftop garden ground. It is between blk 589C and 588C at level-3..  This is due to the usual training ground is having a funeral event.
